Our temperatures range from an average 13oC - 24oC minimum to a 25oC - 32oC maximum.
As Magnetic Island is located in the so-called Dry-Tropics, we get about 300 sunny days per year. | Magnetic Island Weather |
Magnetic Island has a very benign "off-season" from November to April. We have only experienced 3 cyclones in more than 20 years and only on a couple of days have the Irukandji or Box Jelly fish visited one or two of our Beaches. In other words you can still go swimming, snorkelling, boating, bush walking etc at greatly reduced off-season prices during admittedly more cloudy, but still very pleasant weather conditions. .... Back to Welcome Page ....
NB. During our "off-season" swim in stinger net enclosures (Picnic Bay and Horseshoe Bay) or in Alma Bay. If you want to go snorkelling or swimming somewhere else, wear a Stinger Suit.
A Stinger Suit is a tight-fitting, comfortable, light-weight, full body suit made from Lycra.
It not only protects you from a potentially nasty sting, but
also from sunburn (and skin cancer). You can hire or
buy a stinger suit in lots of Island shops. In the unlikely event, that you are stung, have someone apply the
vinegar from the vinegar bottles (supplied on most beaches).
