Magnetic Island State School
Achievement through effort

Since 1924 Magnetic Island has had a very good Primary State School in Nelly Bay. The buildings are a mixture of old and new, but all have air-conditioning. The grounds are well maintained and great for sport and activities. Other facilities are an air conditioned library, assembly hall, large swimming pool, tennis court, teachers and parents room, playgrounds, pre-school and basketball court.

High School aged kids take the 7.50am ferry, which meets an array of school buses in the Townsville Ferry Terminal. There are many State, Catholic and Private High schools in Townsville. After school, they take the same school buses to catch the 3.45pm ferry back to the Island. School Ferry costs are paid by the State Government.
